We raise a variety of free-range meat, eggs and produce based on a sustainable agriculture model and we are committed to the growth and promotion of healthy, local, small farming.
Our farmers are encouraged to use natural fertilizers and natural pest deterrents wherever possible and we are continuing to educate and incent our farmers to move more and more toward sustainable farming and organic practices.
To this end we are working with someone who will be showing us how to incorporate biodiversity into our sustainable farming processes. The importance of biodiversity includes economic, sociological and of course, environmental components.
Specifically, we’re concentrating on two areas of biodiversity: genetics and agricultural diversity.
Genetic biodiversity provides not only vigorous produce, but also new plant and (heirloom) seed varieties. Additionally, maintaining soil fertility and its microorganisms, which make soil and water conservation a priority. Agricultural diversity preserves our seeds, plants, animal food supplies, pastures and the microbial and fungal sources, which are all necessary for healthy soil.
All of our livestock are raised on fresh pasture in the sunshine and fresh air as God intended, using a controlled, rotational grazing method. Controlled, rotational grazing has increased forage production for us over the years. Skillfully using livestock to harvest forages leads to improved soil fertility, diverse, dense, and useful pasture not to mention, and an extended grazing season. Fertile soil and productive pastures, in turn, support healthy animals. We do not use antibiotics, hormones or artificial ingredients in our meats.
